Discover the secrets to local marketing with this free download

Your customers are online Your competitors are online .. Where are you? |
Feature |
Don't let it go without you.....
Creative, switched on business owners like you are discovering that
the local internet
market is taking off with explosive force.
More and more of them are reaching out to their local
markets using the internet.
If you're not one of them yet, you should
be.
Look through the small-ads in your local newspaper or Yellow Pages and discover how many of them include an e-mail or web site address.
Does yours?
Even if you wouldn't know where to begin designing a web site it does not mean you should miss out on the incredible advantages to be gained from using one.
Many people who advertise in print, on the radio or on television would not have the first idea about how to design a winning ad, and even fewer could produce their own TV commercial, but it does not stop them making money out of them.
You need to realise that the internet can give you many advantages over traditional forms of advertising.
For one thing, you can have as much space as you need to get your message across for virtually no extra cost.
Compare that with the cost of increasing your ad space in Yellow Pages. (You think I could afford to put this in Yellow Pages?)
As the owner of a local business, you need very specific strategies to make the internet work. Using your web site as an electronic catalogue is not enough.
To really make the breakthrough you need to harness every aspect of the internet and combine it with your more traditional promotion methods.
Most internet designers and marketers will tell you that successful promotion on the internet is a numbers game.
However, you need discover different strategies when trying to shake up your local buyers. There simply is not enough of them to use traditional web marketing methods.
Answer, anything!
Just take a look at eBay sometime.....
But however you make your money, rather than trying to sell from the web site, you need to persuade local visitors to phone in with an enquiry or, better still, turn up on your doorstep ready to buy so that you can clinch the deal.
If you do this right, you can sell a much wider range of products. Thousands of people are prepared to buy books or CD's from Amazon and the like, but how many people do you suppose are likely to purchase a new bathroom suite from a web site?
Not many, you think?
Here's a surprise.....
If you are selling bathroom
suites, you can get a huge amount of information
in front of a prospect on your web site.
| Will it fit his bathroom? Show him the exact dimensions. |
|
| How much plumbing will he have to do? Show him exactly where the taps and waste connections are. |
|
| What about colours? Show him the full range of colour options. |
Even if he thinks of questions you have never heard before, he can e-mail you right there and then while they're on his mind. Just make sure you get back to him!
How much would it cost you to do all that in an advert?
Still think you can't sell via the web to local people?
| Most people spend up to 80% of their income within 20 miles of home. | |
| Even the big guys are going local. Now that the hype has died down, companies are discovering that some things simply don't sell very well to distant customers via the web. They are now trying to convince their web site visitors to go to their local store to make the purchase. | |
|
Many experts firmly believe that in a few years' time there will only be two types of business on our streets. Those with web sites And those who have gone bust. Which will you be? |
Using traditional promotion methods, local businesses can't compete with the nationals.
You can't afford
But you can afford
I can almost guarantee this, because I have built a number of sites for small family businesses and have not yet had one fail to earn it's keep.
O.K. so that guy over in the corner is your in-house geek, but he's never built a web site and doesn't have time to any way.
Do you let him design your
I thought not.
Then why expect him to design a web site?
| First of all, this stuff is not rocket science. It can be learned, and someone in the company might have the skills to help design an attractive web site. If you want to try it yourself there are some excellent resources listed down the left side of this page. | ![]() |
Try it. You may be surprised at the results.
Just bear in mind that a poorly executed web site may work against you. Especially if the competitor over the street has a better one.
